Update on Jacob Fatu’s status with WWE following injury angle from SmackDown

As seen during the October 17th 2025 edition of WWE SmackDown, Jacob Fatu was scheduled to have a match against Drew McIntyre. However, a mystery attacker ambushed Fatu backstage. Equipment was dropped onto Fatu, leaving him on the ground with blood visible and several teeth knocked out.

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com, the word among talent at SmackDown last night was that Fatu is recovering from a legitimate dental procedure and wasn’t cleared to wrestle at the event. The hope is he will be back “very soon.”

It was initially feared that Fatu would be out of action for an extended period of time – possibly “well into 2026.”
