Update on Drew McIntyre after he says he got “real glass” in his eye during WWE Smackdown segment

As seen during the March 28th 2025 edition of WWE Smackdown, Damian Priest put Drew McIntyre through a car windshield with his South of Heaven chokeslam. After the show, McIntyre wrote the following message on Twitter/X…

“That was real glass… It got in my eye.”

Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com was told that McIntyre wore an eye patch backstage after the angle and told people that glass was removed from his eye. However, Johnson also noted the following…

“After speaking with additional WWE sources upon their return to the United States, we are told that while McIntyre did receive treatment to have something cleared from his eye after the angle at the scene, we were told today that it was determined that what was removed was not glass. We are also told McIntyre was checked out by WWE medical before leaving Smackdown.”

McIntyre using the “real glass” line was seemingly a reference to CM Punk’s incident with Jack Perry at the 2023 AEW All In PPV event.
