Update on Brian Cage’s status with AEW

AEW star Brian Cage hasn’t appeared on television since the Oct 8th 2021 edition of Rampage. Cage has remained active on the independent wrestling scene but there’s been speculation about his contract not being renewed by AEW. Cage’s wife Melissa Santos recently addressed his position with the company and Max Caster even referenced Cage’s contract during a freestyle promo at a wrestling event.

In an update on Cage’s status, it appears that he will be staying with the company. Fightful Select noted the following regarding Cage…

“Word made it around backstage at Wednesday’s All Elite Wrestling Dynamite show that Brian Cage had told those close to him that AEW picked up his option year on his contract. Cage was said to have been surprised by this, as he and virtually everyone on the All Elite Wrestling roster thought his deal would simply expire.”

Cage commented on the report by writing “hmmm, not sure who I told all of this too.”
