Update on Alberto Del Rio being arrested in Mexico for alleged domestic violence
Earlier this week, it was reported that former WWE star Alberto Del Rio had been arrested in Mexico and more details have since emerged. The Attorney General’s Office of the State of San Luis Potosí (FGESLP) has launched an investigation into Del Rio, who is accused of committing domestic violence against his wife. The incident reportedly took place in the Lomas del Tecnológico neighborhood in the state capital.
Del Rio was taken into custody by agents of the State Civil Guard (GCE), part of the State Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPCE), after his wife called for help on the afternoon of Monday, April 6th. He was arrested at the scene and subsequently turned over to the Special Prosecutor’s Office for Crimes Against Women, the Family, and Sexual Offenses.
According to his wife’s statement, an argument began while the two were inside a residence in Lomas del Tecnológico, which escalated into multiple acts of physical and verbal abuse.
Following his arrest, Del Rio was handed over to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, which will oversee the investigation and prepare the case for presentation before a judicial authority at an initial hearing, where he will be required to respond to the charges against him.
Mexican outlet Milenio noted the following via Twitter/X…
“Mexican wrestler Alberto del Río, better known as ‘El Patrón’, will remain in preventive detention after being accused of physically and verbally assaulting his romantic partner in San Luis Potosí.
A control judge determined to keep the former athlete behind bars after the State General Prosecutor’s Office (FGE) formally charged him with the crime of family violence.
The events took place last Monday, April 6, in the Lomas del Tec neighborhood, where state Civil Guard elements detained the wrestler right at the moment he was assaulting the victim, who had visible injuries on her face and arms. For his part, Rodríguez’s defense has requested to double the constitutional term to define his final legal situation.”
