The reason why Steve Austin didn’t appear at WWE Wrestlemania 40 despite teases

“Stone Cold” Steve Austin was one of the legends rumored to appear at the WWE Wrestlemania 40 PLE. As seen during the March 25th 2024 edition of RAW, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson attacked Cody Rhodes at the end of the broadcast. While Rock was attacking Cody, a WWE production truck was seen in the background that included images of Austin and John Cena. In another tease, Paul “Triple H” Levesque also sent out a post about Wrestlemania Sunday’s main event at 3:16 PM Eastern time.

While speaking to Adrian Hernandez, Austin explained why he wasn’t at the show…

“It was close (almost appearing at WrestleMania XL), and they certainly reached out to me, and we had conversations, but my wife and I had some things going on that I didn’t need to go to Philly at that time. But I have said, I missed that ‘Mania, and God dang, Philly was a good town for me back in the day and I appreciate those fans. [I] couldn’t make it down on that one, but WrestleMania this year’s in Vegas, and I was doing an interview a while back, and I said, ‘Hey man, that’s 400 miles. That’s like right here, where we’re sitting. Right down the road. I’m fixing to drive back to Reno in my buggy.’ But anyway, it’ll be in Vegas. So, I hope to be there this year. If he (Cody Rhodes) needs another hand, I mean, I’ll be there.” (quote courtesy of WrestlingNews.co)
