Swerve Strickland turns heel against Kenny Omega at the end of their match on AEW Dynamite
In the main event of AEW Dynamite on February 18th 2026, Kenny Omega faced Swerve Strickland. Omega hit an Avalanche Dragon Suplex, but Swerve created an opening by pulling referee Aubrey Edwards into a V-Trigger. After a visual pin with no referee, Swerve continued the assault, landing a Swerve Stomp on the apron and exposing the turnbuckle for a face-first slingshot. A second referee ran out as Swerve hit another Swerve Stomp, but Omega kicked out.
Omega fired back with a Snap Dragon, V-Trigger, and Poison Rana, but Swerve countered again, eventually connecting with House Call and then Big Pressure to secure the victory.
Swerve turned heel by attacking Omega after the match, throwing referee Paul Turner from the ring, and choking Omega with a chain over the top rope. Despite pleas from Bryan Danielson on commentary, Strickland cleared the announce table, set up the ring steps, and delivered a devastating Vertebreaker off the steps through the table. Staring into the camera, he repeatedly said, “I needed this,” as the show went off the air.
