Rumor killer regarding Tony Schiavone’s absence from the January 8th 2025 edition of AEW Dynamite

AEW announcer Tony Schiavone was not in attendance for the January 8th 2025 edition of AEW Dynamite and Ian Riccaboni filled in on commentary.

Earlier this week, it was reported that NJPW English commentator Chris Charlton had been temporarily suspended from his role due to anti-AEW comments that were made during the 2025 Wrestle Dynasty PPV event. Schiavone sent out the following post on Twitter/X that was quickly deleted…

“Hey [Chris Charlton] speaking for all of us in AEW, GFY. And speaking for all of us who have been around you, take a shower once in a while.”

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com addressed Schiavone’s absence from Dynamite…

“He wasn’t on the show tonight, and it’s nothing big or anything like that. When he wasn’t there, I started getting all these people going like, ‘Oh my God, did he get suspended for that [tweet]?’ But it was just a family situation. He’s fine, he’ll be back, you know, I presume on Saturday. It’s not anything to be alarmed over. It was just a family situation, he missed one show. So that’s the situation there.”
