Rikishi questions WWE’s decision to book Solo Sikoa against Gunther in the “Last Time is Now” tournament
While speaking on his podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Rikishi discussed his son Solo Sikoa’s match against Gunther in the “Last Time is Now” tournament…
“It’s one of those bookings, why? You know what I mean? Was there nobody else in the locker room that wasn’t really figured into anything to go up against Gunther? The match between Gunther and Solo, not having a program — I thought it was an A+ match. It’s very difficult for two heels to go out there and slowly have the fans shift to where they’re picking a babyface and a heel. But I thought it was a good match.
For me, seeing my son go out there and test his skills against another heel made me proud. They figured it out. And he had a good guy to work with. Gunther ain’t no walk in the park, you know what I’m saying? Big shout-out to both of them.
But if you’re going to ask me, I’m going to tell you — I was like, damn. Number one, why? Number two, was there not anybody else? Because Solo’s got momentum doing his thing, and then you throw him in there just for the sake of getting somebody else to the next level… you see what I’m saying?
Can you imagine when Solo switches babyface in their mind and they just let him do him? Oh my goodness. He’ll be doing every personal appearance as a babyface for the company for the next decade. It’s a treat to see. But in due time.”
