Ricky Steamboat explains why he “didn’t care for” the 2025 women’s Blood & Guts match at AEW Dynamite

WWE Hall of Famer Ricky Steamboat, who was in attendance for the 2025 Blood & Guts edition of AEW Dynamite, gave his thoughts on the women’s cage match while speaking to Bill Apter. Here is what Steamboat stated…

“God bless those girls, you know, that were in that match, but I didn’t care for it. I don’t know if it was just too much. I thought personally – They had 16 girls in there or something like that, there’s just too much going on. You know, over in this one corner two girls are doing something, some you know two or three girls doing something in the middle of the ring, then you go to the other ring and two or three girls are doing something. You just you just kept you couldn’t focus on anything because there was just so much going on and for me it’s hard to react.”

Steamboat also commented on the pre-show matches…

“I watched the opening matches, and I think those two matches, they might have had two warm-up matches before they aired. Yeah. And I didn’t like the work – much less of not having much ring psychology, but it was very very loose to me, and it’s maybe because of me being able to look from the outside looking in and knowing what I know. It looked too choreographed.”
