Results of Kenny Omega vs. Will Ospreay at AEW/NJPW Forbidden Door 2023

Kenny Omega (c) vs. Will Ospreay for the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship took place at AEW/NJPW Forbidden Door 2023. Here are the highlights…

* A “protest” video aired before Ospreay’s entrance. Ospreay came to the ring with Don Callis and security.

* The crowd erupted when the bell rang and started a “holy shit” chant. The two had a feeling out process in the early moments. The two countered each other’s moves and the crowd gave them a standing ovation with a “this is wrestling” chant.

* Callis grabbed the foot of Omega and hid behind the security. The referee kicked Callis out of the ringside area but it was enough for Ospreay to gain the upper hand.

* Omega was hanging on the ropes and Ospreay hit him with a shooting star press. Ospreay then hit Omega with a cutter on the apron and the repeatedly drove Omega’s head into the announce table. Omega was busted open at this point.

* Back in the ring, Ospreay hit Omega with a V-Trigger. Ospreay grabbed a Canadian flag from ringside and wiped his crotch with it which gave Omega an opportunity to make a comeback. Omega delivered punishment to Ospreay on the outside of the ring and Ospreay was also busted open. Omega gave Ospreay a DDT on the steel steps.

* The two returned to the ring and Ospreay hit a Spanish Fly but Omega kicked out. Ospreay put on the Sharpshooter followed by a crossface but Omega was eventually able to get to the rope. Omega made a comeback and hit several big moves including a spiked piledriver but could not finish off Ospreay.

* Ospreay regained control and hit a sky twister press to the outside on Omega. Back in the ring, Ospreay nailed the Os-cutter off the top but Omega kicked out. Callis made his way back to ringside despite being kicked out and the crowd chanted “piece of shit” at him.

* Callis tried to pull Ospreay out of the ring. While the referee was distracted, Callis gave a screwdriver to Ospreay who used it on Omega. Ospreay then hit Omega with the storm breaker but Omega got his foot on the rope.

* Ospreay hit the One Winged Angel on Omega but Omega kicked out at one with a burst of energy. The two traded shots and Omega got the upper hand. Omega hit the v-trigger but Ospreay avoided the One Winged Angel. Ospreay hit a tiger driver 91 but Omega kicked out again. Ospreay finally won the title with a storm breaker in the center of the ring. The match went nearly 40 minutes.
