Drew McIntyre (c) vs. Sami Zayn for the WWE title took place at WWE Royal Rumble 2026. Here are the highlights…

Early in the match, Zayn sent McIntyre to the outside and delivered a running dive. However, Zayn’s back was hurting, and McIntyre took advantage by sending him into the ring apron. Back in the ring, McIntyre targeted Zayn’s back. Zayn managed to hit a sunset flip powerbomb out of the corner but was still having issues with his back, and McIntyre regained control. Zayn then countered a Claymore with a Blue Thunder Bomb.

McIntyre came back with an avalanche White Noise. He delivered three Future Shock DDTs but couldn’t secure the victory. After Zayn missed a Helluva Kick, McIntyre hit a Claymore, but Zayn got his foot on the rope.

After McIntyre argued with the referee, Zayn took advantage and hit the Helluva Kick, but McIntyre got his shoulder up. After the two went outside the ring, Zayn’s back gave out, and McIntyre delivered a powerbomb through the announce desk.

Back in the ring, Zayn made a comeback with an exploder suplex in the corner. Zayn went for another Helluva Kick, but McIntyre nailed the Claymore first. McIntyre hit another Claymore to retain his title.
