Results of Cody Rhodes vs. Gunther at WWE Crown Jewel 2024 PLE

Cody Rhodes (Undisputed WWE Champion) vs. Gunther (World Heavyweight Champion) for the men’s Crown Jewel title took place at the WWE Crown Jewel 2024 PLE. Here are the highlights…

* There was a feeling out process in the early moments as the crowd erupted in an “OLE” chant. Cody went for the bionic elbow but Gunther countered with a chop. Gunther took control of the match at this point.

* Cody made a comeback and hit a cutter but Gunther kicked out. Gunther countered a disaster kick with a Boston crab submission. Gunther transitioned into a sleeper submission but Cody was eventually able to escape. Cody hit the Cross Rhodes but couldn’t make the cover.

* Gunther regained the upper hand and delivered a powerbomb but Cody kicked out. Gunther chopped Cody but it fired up Cody and he fought back. Cody hit another Cross Rhodes but Gunther kicked out.

* For the finish, Cody went for a super cutter but Gunther caught him for a sleeper. However, Cody rolled back into a pinning position and won the match. Gunther shook hands with Cody after the match and then Triple H presented the Crown Jewel title to Cody. Women’s Crown Jewel champion Liv Morgan also came to the ring for the celebration.
