Claudio vs. Buddy Matthews took place at AEW Full Gear 2023. Here are the highlights…

* Matthews threw his jacket at Claudio and started fast with offense but Claudio quickly fought back. Claudio went for the swing but Matthews slipped to the outside of the ring. Matthews got the first nearfall with a meteora off the top rope. The crowd chanted “we want Mami” in reference to Matthews being engaged to Rhea Ripley.

* Claudio came back and hit an uppercut but Matthews was able to kick out. Claudio applied the big swing to Matthews but there was another kickout.

* Matthews regained the upper hand and hit a jackhammer followed by a crossface submission. Matthews used the BCC elbows but Claudio powered out and delivered a cutter. Claudio hit another uppercut but Matthews kicked out yet again. Claudio finally won with the ricola bomb followed by the sharpshooter.
