Bryan Danielson vs. Shingo Takagi took place at AEW/NJPW Forbidden Door 2024. Here are the highlights…

* Bryan had the early advantage and worked over Shingo on the mat with various holds. Bryan went for a dive to the outside but was caught and dropped head-first on the floor. Bryan was checked out by the ringside doctor and barely beat the count back into the ring.

* Bryan stayed in the fight and traded strikes with Shingo. Bryan gave Shingo a back suplex off the top but could not capitalize on the move right away.

* The match continued to go back and forth with “this is awesome” chants from the fans. Shingo hit a superplex followed by a lariat but Bryan was able to kick out. Shingo hit another lariat followed by “Made in Japan” but Bryan kicked out again.

* Shingo mocked Bryan’s “yes” taunts but then Bryan was able to counter another lariat attempt with a submission. Bryan was able to hit the running knee but Shingo kicked out. Bryan kicked Shingo’s head in and then won by submission.
