Report: The reason why Iyo Sky vs. Asuka hasn’t been announced for WWE WrestleMania 42

The official lineups for each night of WWE WrestleMania 42 were announced today but Iyo Sky vs. Asuka was not included. Despite this, PostWrestling.com was told that the match is still expected to be added to WrestleMania Sunday’s card.

However, Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline.com reports that if Nikki is not medically cleared to team with her sister Brie in the four-way Women’s Tag Team match at WrestleMania, Asuka and Kairi Sane will take their place. If Nikki is cleared, then the planned Iyo Sky vs. Asuka match will move forward.

It’s currently unclear what happens with Iyo if Asuka is needed for the tag match instead.

Nikki was seen wearing a walking boot after a late-March SmackDown match and later stated she expected to return within a week. However, she has not yet been officially cleared and it was noted by Michael Cole on television that she is “rehabbing” ahead of WrestleMania.

Iyo publicly called out Asuka for a WrestleMania match in a post via Twitter/X…

“Asuka… The achievements you’ve made in WWE have been truly brilliant. Kairi and I have always looked up to you. But the way you’re treating Kairi right now is changing all of that!! If dragging Kairi around and using her as a shield is your idea of ‘LOVE,’ then my ‘LOVE’ is to go anywhere and everywhere to be Rhea’s shield. I’m DEFINITELY NOT afraid to face You, my senior whom I once LOVED so dearly. Let’s settle this once and for all: which of our ‘LOVES’ deserves to have it all. Hope to see you in Vegas.”
