Report on WWE’s reaction to the Netflix streaming issues during Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul boxing match

On Friday night, the Netflix streaming service aired a live boxing event featuring WWE Hall of Famer Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul. According to Netflix, 60 million households tuned in to watch the fight. However, there were widespread technical issues for viewers and Netflix noted that “the boxing mega-event dominated social media, shattered records, and even had our buffering systems on the ropes.”

With RAW moving to Netflix in January, there has been concern about similar issues occurring with WWE’s live programming on the steaming service. Fightful.com inquired about the situation and according to WWE sources, the company has been “assured” by Netflix that any technical problems would be “kept at a minimum.” Furthermore, one WWE higher-up joked that “if we were ever doing the type of traffic Mike Tyson and Jake Paul were doing, that would be a good problem to have.”

Several top names in WWE are expected to return for the Netflix launch including John Cena, Becky Lynch, and Pat McAfee.
