Report on what was originally planned for the WWE WrestleMania 42 main event
As seen during the November 24th 2025 edition of WWE RAW, Roman Reigns teased going after either CM Punk or Cody Rhodes for their respective world titles.
According to Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com, the belief is that at least one top match for WWE WrestleMania 42 will be teased at the 2025 Survivor Series PLE. Meltzer noted that Reigns vs. Seth Rollins was originally planned for WrestleMania, but the direction appears to be changing due to Rollins’ shoulder injury.
Meltzer stated the following…
“We don’t know what the matches are, past a confirmation of what we already knew which was Reigns vs. Rollins was scheduled as the night two main event for 2026. The Reigns hint regarding challenging either Rhodes or Punk, (or someone else if either of those titles change hands first) is the current planned direction still as the main event.”
Paul Heyman made the following comments about Survivor Series while appearing on ESPN’s First Take…
“This is really an infomercial for WrestleMania. Because, as you must know by now, there’s such a huge publicity push out there that the individual tickets for WrestleMania Saturday and WrestleMania Sunday go on sale on Black Friday. So we are out there just showing the world, ‘Hey, check out this spectacle. Check out what WWE is about, and our biggest show of the year, WrestleMania, individual tickets going on sale.’ This is our audition for the world to come to Vegas for WrestleMania, at the same time, giving the most bang for the buck and the greatest War Games of all time.”
