Report: Multiple talent no longer under contract to AEW as 2026 begins

It was reported by Fightful.com that Matt Taven, Mercedes Martinez and Alex Abrahantes are no longer with AEW. The outlet was told that their contracts expired and all three have been removed from AEW’s official roster page.

Martinez previously confirmed that 2026 will be her final year as a full-time wrestler. She stated she will have no contracts during that time and plans to work the independent scene, with a focus on giving back and mentoring younger talent. Martinez, who worked for WWE in the past, signed with AEW in 2021 but has not competed there in some time.

Taven, a former ROH World and Tag Team Champion, was a top star during ROH’s Sinclair era and remained featured on the ROH brand after signing with AEW in 2022. His tag team partner in The Kingdom, Mike Bennett, is still listed on AEW’s roster.

Abrahantes, who worked on AEW’s Spanish-language broadcast team, was also an on-screen manager for The Lucha Bros and Komander.
