Report: Gunther’s status for WWE WrestleMania 42 remains unclear

As seen during the March 2nd 2026 edition of WWE RAW, Gunther defeated Dragon Lee in a singles match. Gunther, who retired AJ Styles at the 2026 WWE Royal Rumble PLE, did not appear on the March 16th edition of WWE RAW.

Sources told Bodyslam.net that Gunther’s feud with Dragon Lee was originally intended to lead into a program with Rey Mysterio, culminating in a match at WrestleMania. However, after Rey suffered a rib injury prior to the Royal Rumble, Gunther’s WrestleMania plans were altered. It is now unclear whether he will compete in Las Vegas unless Rey is medically cleared.

Earlier this month, Rey noted that his fractured ribs are taking “a little bit of time to heal.”
