Renewed speculation about Edge possibly debuting with AEW heading into the WrestleDream PPV
The September 27th 2023 edition of AEW Dynamite ended with five masked people attacking Jay White in a backstage area. One of them was wearing MJF’s Devil mask although fans on social media claimed that this person didn’t have the same body type as MJF.
Speculation about the identity of the attackers has ranged from Adam Cole and The Kingdom to Wardlow to former WWE stars that were just released. Edge’s name has also been mentioned and Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful.com wrote, “I personally think whoever is going to be revealed under a mask probably isn’t under the mask now.”
During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com commented on the Edge to AEW rumors…
“I don’t know that he’s going there [AEW] or not. I just know that people in WWE, at least as of a few weeks ago, believed that he was going. I mean, his contract expires on Saturday, so he could show up on Sunday [for WrestleDream].” (quote courtesy of WrestlePurists.com)
Prior to Dynamite, insider Twitter/X account Boozer aka Better Wrestling Experience #BWE wrote the following about Edge…
“Edge is closer to AEW more than ever apparently. Mind blown on how this business have changed yet so similar to WCW/WWF. The E are playing the right cards right now. Unless something big pops in AEW books in the future.”
Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com noted that Edge has been removed from the miscellaneous list of WWE’s internal roster and while he is still listed on WWE.com’s roster, Edge is no longer listed internally with the company.
What is the meaning of this?!
