Pat McAfee explains why he has stepped away from being an announcer for WWE
WWE announcer Pat McAfee has not been on WWE television since the June 9th 2025 edition of RAW. Wade Barrett filled in for McAfee on June 9th and Corey Graves stepped in after that.
During The Pat McAfee Show, McAfee explained why he has stepped away from for the time being…
“I got real tired, man. I crashed. I hit one [a wall]. I’ve been going since Dublin. I’m an energy guy and I don’t need a lot of sleep to operate. I’ve always been that way but I could just feel it. I’m like, ‘Oh my god, my brain is not like operating right now.’ I talked to others that have maybe experienced mental exhaustion before. I’ve talked to them and I’ve been like, ‘Uh, I’m staring down what you went through there.’ I knew this moment was coming. I knew it was going to happen at some point. As Money in the Bank was happening I was like, ‘Oh my god. This is it. I’ve finally hit it.’ I never thought it was going to happen. You add in like my daughter, wanting to be around. The daily show, the travel. Also trying my best, and I know wrestling fans don’t think this, but like I was trying to put everybody over. Like maximum effort every time.
I stopped going to Monday Night RAW. Wade Barrett, so good, Corey Graves, so good. Show moves on regardless. The ability to not feel absolutely f*cking terrible for having to take a step back because I’m tired. WWE, they have such a hard work kind of mindset and travel mindset… They’ve been great. I will always love the WWE and I miss it but I’ll tell you what, I don’t think I would have made it.”
