Oba Femi officially vacates the WWE NXT championship

As seen during the January 6th 2026 edition of WWE NXT, Oba Femi defeated Leon Slater to retain the NXT world title. Afterwards, Ava spoke to the Evolve roster about potential NXT opportunities. Robert Stone then burst into the room, exclaiming, “Did you see what Oba Femi just did?!” The broadcast cut back to the ring, where Femi was nowhere to be found and the NXT Championship sat abandoned in the center of the ring as the show went off the air.

The ending of NXT teased Femi’s long-rumored main roster call-up that has been hinted at through recent vignettes on RAW and SmackDown. On Wednesday afternoon, WWE officially confirmed that Femi vacated the title.
