Oba Femi on WWE’s aging stars: “I’m hungrier than a lot of these 47-year-olds, I’ll tell you that”
While speaking to SHAK Wrestling, WWE star Oba Femi stated the following in regards to mixing it up with WWE’s aging stars…
“Well, it’s very good because at the end of the day, those older guys are doing their thing — they’re killing it — but at the same time, Father Time always wins. A lot of them are 44, 45, 46. They’re on their way out. They have one foot out the door.
So this is the time for someone like ‘The Ruler’ to come in, take their place, and fulfill that destiny. I’ve built trust with them. I’ve built equity in NXT with everything I did with the NXT Championship — all those classic matches I had. I feel like when they’ve seen the body of work, they’re like, ‘Okay, we have something here.’
So I think it’s good that they’re putting that trust in me because I think it’s well deserved.”
Oba also commented on potentially becoming a champion while still in his 20s…
“I think the odds are very high. They’re stacked in my favor. Like I said, I’m young, I’m spry, I’m ready to go. I’m hungry — hungrier than a lot of these 47-year-olds, I’ll tell you that.
So I think we’re going to see that happen very soon, because it’s not just me. It’s me, it’s Bron [Breakker], it’s Dominik [Mysterio]. There’s so much going on right now when it comes to the young talent.”
