News regarding which matches are expected to open each night of WWE WrestleMania 42
According to WrestleVotes Radio, current plans for WWE WrestleMania 42 have the six-man tag team match featuring Logan Paul, Austin Theory, and IShowSpeed against The Usos and LA Knight slated to open night one on April 18th 2026. For night two on April 19th, Oba Femi vs. Brock Lesnar is currently planned as the opening match. As always, both lineups remain subject to change.
WrestleVotes also noted that ESPN pushed for Lesnar to be included in the package of matches highlighted across its traditional platforms for the first hour, a request WWE was reportedly happy to accommodate. In 2023, former WWE writer Dave Schilling wrote on Twitter/X about why Lesnar vs. Seth Rollins was the opening match at WrestleMania 35 in 2019…
“Brock and Seth was supposed to semi-main and last minute Brock changed it to the opener so he could go home early. That pushed [Bobby] Lashley and Finn [Balor] to a spot when the crowd was flatter than a plate full of piss.”
