News regarding Roman Reigns potentially having a match against CM Punk at WWE Wrestlemania 41
Earlier this week, it was reported that WWE wants CM Punk to be involved in a world title match at Wrestlemania 41. Whether a title is on the line or not, Punk is expected to have a significant match at Wrestlemania.
According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful.com, Roman Reigns vs. CM Punk has been discussed internally as a potential match for Wrestlemania. Sapp wrote that “We’d heard a number of weeks ago that this wasn’t particularly the plan, but had been adjusted of late. We’re told that CM Punk had also hoped for the match.”
There has been internet speculation about Punk using his “favor” from Paul Heyman to get a match with Reigns. Ibou of WrestlePurists.com noted the following about the Reigns vs. Punk report via Twitter/X…
“Roman Reigns vs CM Punk was not the originally planned WrestleMania match. As I’ve said for 10 days straight, there is a lot of backstage political maneuvering taking place as top guys jockey for WrestleMania spots. CM Punk wants to main event the entire thing. Guys are getting into position.”
“If The Rock wrestles at WrestleMania this year it will be to face Cody Rhodes. Roman/Rock was pretty much never on the table for WM 41.”
