News regarding AEW’s plans to introduce a new championship
On Thursday, Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men Podcast wrote that there were “rumblings of a new title being introduced to AEW soon” and that it would be a secondary women’s championship.
It was later revealed by Zarian on the Speak Now Pro Wrestling podcast that the championship would be known as the TBS Title which would serve a similar purpose for the women as the men’s TNT Title.
There is no word yet on when the title might debut but it’s possible that the new title will be introduced when AEW programming moves from TNT to TBS starting in January of 2022.
During a recent interview, Cody Rhodes said that he was “99% sure the TNT Title stays the TNT Title” despite programming being moved to TBS. AEW quarterly specials will continue to air on TNT starting in 2022.
