More details on WWE’s Shinsuke Nakamura having a match against The Great Muta

As previously noted, Pro Wrestling NOAH announced on Sunday morning that WWE’s Shinsuke Nakamura will have a match against The Great Muta at The New Year 2023 event on January 1st 2023.

According to Tokyo Sports, NOAH had listed Nakamura as a possible opponent immediately after Muta made the decision to go on this retirement tour. There was reportedly an initial disagreement but negotiations “tenaciously” continued following Vince McMahon’s resignation from WWE. A deal was said to have been reached on October 26th.

Nakamura said the following to the outlet…

“There were people in WWE who pushed me forward. It’s nothing short of a miracle. Of course, I wanted to do it. It was an area that no one had ever stepped into, or rather, I opened a door that no one had been able to pry open. Ha ha ha… It’s a real ‘Forbidden Door.’”
