Match results (spoilers) from the 2025 AEW Grand Slam event in Brisbane, Australia

The venue was completely sold out, with the crowd being incredibly loud and energetic.

Announcements and Opening:

* Arkady served as the ring announcer for the evening.

* The broadcast team included Tony Schiavone and Nigel McGuinness.

* AEW’s Tony Khan was introduced by Arkady. He received a mixed reaction – cheers from some, boos from many. Khan expressed that this was a dream come true and predicted it would be one of the greatest nights in AEW history. He also promised a return to Brisbane, which shifted some of the crowd’s reaction to cheers.

1. Will Ospreay & Kenny Omega vs. Konosuke Takeshita & Kyle Fletcher:

* Don Callis and Mark Davis accompanied Takeshita and Fletcher.

* The match started with intense chants from the crowd, including “Holy sh–!” before the bell even rang.

* Ospreay and Fletcher began with a series of hard chops. The match saw high flying and technical wrestling with Omega and Takeshita showing great chemistry.

* Key moments included Ospreay’s big DDT, interference from Callis, and a series of near-falls.

* The match concluded with Ospreay and Omega countering with the One-Winged Angel and Hidden Blade, pinning Takeshita for the win. The crowd was on their feet by the end.

2. TBS Championship: Mercedes Mone vs. Harley Cameron:

* Cameron, a local hero, got a huge reaction, while Mone was met with boos.

* The match featured a moment where Cameron used Mone’s puppet to distract her, leading to chants of “Feel the Wrath.”

* Despite Cameron’s impressive moves like the Destroyer, Mone retained her title with her Money Maker move.

3. The Brisbane Brawl: Jon Moxley & Claudio Castagnoli vs. Jay White & Cope:

* This was a no-holds-barred brawl starting from the bell, moving through the audience, and involving various weapons like trash cans and tables.

* Highlights included Cope’s daring leap from the upper level and Moxley’s brutal use of a barbed wire chair.

* The match ended controversially with Moxley’s chokehold on Cope after interference from Yuta and Shafir, leading to chants of “Bullsh–!” from the audience.

* Post-match, Cope received a standing ovation from the Australian crowd.

* They aired a video on the screen where Will Ospreay challenged Kyle Fletcher to a steel cage match at the AEW Revolution event while Kenny Omega challenged Konosuke Takeshita for the International title at Revolution.

4. Continental Championship: Kazuchika Okada vs. Buddy Matthews:

* The match had a competitive start with Okada giving Matthews the finger.

* Both wrestlers showcased their skills with high-impact moves, but Matthews’ resilience led to unexpected kick-outs.

* Okada retained the title with a low blow followed by the Rainmaker. The crowd was vocal with their “Wanker” chants as Okada left, but showed respect to Matthews who displayed the Australian flag post-match.

5. AEW World Women’s Championship: Mariah May vs. Toni Storm

* The atmosphere was electric for the main event where May defended her title. May’s entrance was met with a resounding wave of boos from the crowd. In contrast, Toni Storm had a grandiose entrance, complete with Luther the Butler dressed as a theater usher, setting the stage for “Timeless” Toni Storm.

* Once the bell rang, both competitors went at each other with intensity. Storm showcased her technical prowess with several suplexes. The action spilled to the floor where May aggressively whipped Storm into the barricades. Luther came to Storm’s aid, but May was quick to counter with a spinning backbreaker for a near fall.

* Storm fought back, nearly securing the win with her signature Storm Zero, but May managed a two count. In a surprising turn, May hit a Gutwrench suplex followed by multiple Maydays, yet Storm kicked out at the last possible second.

* Storm rallied, landing another Storm Zero, but May cleverly rolled out to the floor. After missing a charge in the corner, May attempted her own version of Storm Zero. However, Storm escaped another Mayday attempt and quickly capitalized, hitting her finishing move, Storm Zero, to pin May and win the championship.

* After the match, Toni Storm grabbed the microphone and shared a heartfelt moment with the audience. She recounted that the first time she was in this arena, she was sitting among the crowd with her mother. She revealed that her mother had made her outfit for tonight and was present in the audience. Storm then expressed that this was “the greatest honor of her f*cking life” and thanked everyone for being part of this special moment.

It was confirmed that AEW will be returning to Australia in 2026.
