After the match, Ibushi issued the following statement via Instagram that was translated to English from Japanese…
“Again?
All I ever do is get seriously injured. This time, it’s a fractured femur, and the broken bone was about to pierce through the flesh. I think this is life’s way of telling me, “It’s time to stop.”
The surgery was successfully completed‼️‼️ (If I get seriously injured again,) I think I’ll live as an ordinary person from now on.
For about the past five years it’s been nothing but breaking, healing, and getting into accidents. But this can’t be how it ends, right? The greatest president of all Tony Khan and my partner, the executive vice president Kenny Omega. Nakazawa-san, who helped me with so many things. The best in the world, AEW. I never imagined the president himself would personally give me flowers and a letter. How am I supposed to quit after something like that‼️‼️ I cried.
I don’t know if recovery will take a year or a year and a half, but I’ll start doing whatever I can. Right now, only my toes can move—and it hurts like hell. I was surprised to realize I could still feel pain.
Mr. Tony Khan… I have no choice but to keep fighting 👊”
