Jonathan Coachman urges wrestling fans to “stop reading these ‘opinions’ that people turn into fact without proof whatsoever”

Ahead of the January 5th 2026 edition of WWE RAW, former WWE personality Jonathan Coachman stated the following about Chris Jericho via Twitter/X…

“Okay I am going to try this reporter thing. Jericho will NOT be at Raw on Monday. He is scheduled to make his return at the Rumble with a whole new look at character. He will be a special attraction similar to how they use Roman [Reigns] and Brock [Lesnar] only he will be more visible in an on air role due to his ability to cut promos and sway the audience.”

After multiple wrestling sites and social media accounts published Coachman’s claim as news, he wrote the following follow-up message…

“Emergency wrestling ‘surprises’ take. We did a test and social media is as predictable as they come ONLY in wrestling. Fans please remember the reason you LOVE wrestling is NOT because you know what it happening. It’s because you don’t know. So stop reading these ‘opinions’ that people turn into fact without proof whatsoever. It’s fine that they all have an opinion. Truly. But the success rate is very very low.”

Coachman went into more details in a video…

“Wrestling sites, wrestling Twitter handles—there are no repercussions if you’re incorrect. All they care about is clicks, views, and getting the check. If you’re in sports, like when I worked with Adam Schefter, he would double check two, three, four times before he runs with a story.”

“When you call yourself a journalist, normally most journalists are guests on shows. They don’t have their own shows because journalism is not your opinion. It’s fact. That’s what we need to remember what the word is. When you’re a reporter, it’s supposed to be fact, not your opinion.”

“I’ve never understood, since my time in the WWE, my time at ESPN, why people are so enamored with finding out something before it actually happens. Why would you want to know if Chris Jericho is going to show up tonight?”
