John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar officially set to open the WWE Wrestlepalooza PLE

The 2025 WWE Wrestlepalooza PLE is scheduled to take place this coming Saturday along with AEW All Out. During Thursday’s edition of The Pat McAfee Show, Pat McAfee made the following announcement…

“We have some breaking news. Do you remember the announcement of the WWE and ESPN partnering, the world’s greatest entertainment company, Sports Entertainment Company, going with the worldwide leader in sports, finally coming together to become a superpower partnership of sports and entertainment? Do you remember that announcement? Then you know that Wrestlepalooza this weekend in Indianapolis, Indiana, at Gamebridge Fieldhouse, is kicking off this partnership, and it’s going to be a massive night. You know that, right? The show starts at 07:00 PM Eastern Time on the ESPN app. WWE is bringing it in a big way. John Cena, Brock Lesnar, on the marquee.”

“It’s going to be must watch. It’s going to be show stealing. It’s going to be something that’s talked about for generations and generations. That fight will be taking place at the top of the show. Kicking off the ESPN-WWE era will be John Cena versus Brock Lesnar here at Gamebridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana. This is obviously gigantic. What a way to start. The best partnership I’ve ever seen and the smartest partnership I’ve ever seen between ESPN and WWE, and also two goats going at.”

Joe Tessitore initially claimed that Cena vs. Lesnar would be the main event so it appears that plans were changed.
