John Cena admits that he “bombed” with his first promo in WWE after turning heel
As seen during the August 1st 2025 edition of WWE SmackDown, John Cena spoke to Cody Rhodes ahead of their WWE title match at SummerSlam 2025. Cena reverted back to his babyface persona in the segment.
At Fan Expo Chicago 2025, Cena commented on the crowd reactions to his first promo as a heel…
“I wasn’t upset. No, I failed. Ain’t nothing wrong with that. You can learn from failure, right? I went up there and bombed. Sh*t happens.”
Cena also noted that failures can lead to growth. Cena said, “I’ve changed a lot over the years. I’m not the same person I was yesterday.” (quotes courtesy of thepopverse.com)
