Jim Ross addresses AEW’s decision to air the footage of CM Punk’s altercation with Jack Perry
During the April 10th 2024 edition of AEW Dynamite, The Young Bucks (Matthew Jackson & Nicholas Jackson) presented backstage footage of CM Punk’s backstage altercation with Jack Perry from AEW All In 2023. The footage, which contained no audio, showed Punk approaching Perry and the two had words for several seconds. Punk attacked Perry and things were quickly broken up.
While speaking on his podcast, AEW announcer Jim Ross commented on the footage being aired…
“The value of showing that footage to me was the fact that you got on with your storytelling to further marry FTR and The Bucks. So to me when that was the direction that was chosen, I was much more comfortable showing that footage. Other than that, I’m not sure what it meant. I’m not sure why we did it other than the fact that it helped tie together a very crucial and important pay-per-view match. So that’s my thoughts on that deal.”
JR also said the following about this Sunday’s Dynasty PPV event…
“I’m awfully excited about the big AEW pay-per-view this Sunday in St. Louis. I’ll be flying out there on Saturday. Whatever my role will be, I’ll be happy with it. I’m looking forward to going out there and participating with the team. It’s hard to believe I haven’t been working since Greensboro. It will be a good show. I’m assuming that Bryan Danielson and Ospreay will close his show because how in God’s name do you follow that. I would open with the ladder match. I believe it’s gonna be a hell of a show.” (quotes courtesy of WrestlingNews.co)
