Jesse Ventura calls Donald Trump a “draft-dodging coward” and says the United States is “a third-world country now”
During an interview with FOX 9 Minneapolis-St. Paul, WWE Hall of Famer Jesse Ventura made the following comments about the United States government…
“We have a system here. It’s called the Constitution. And we have a party—the Republicans—who don’t seem to want to abide by the Constitution. January 6th is a prime example of that. And now they’re all free, and they’re in charge.”
“We’re a country of the Constitution. We have leadership now that has destroyed the Constitution. They don’t follow it. They could care less about it. Am I right or wrong? I took an oath to defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. After January 6th, I view the Republican Party as a domestic enemy to our Constitution. I can’t get any bolder than that, can I?”
“I came here to show my support as a graduate of Roosevelt and to tell them how proud I am of what they did—keeping ICE off this campus. This is a place of learning. You learn about the Constitution. You learn about warrants. And what we’re getting right now violates everything these kids are being taught.
I’ll give you a quote: we’re a third-world country now.
You want to know why? I’m an expert. I’ve been to them. I spent 17 months in Southeast Asia while the draft dodger was playing golf. I know we’re a third-world country because in third-world countries, the military does police work in cities. I was in the Philippines the day Ferdinand Marcos declared martial law. Overnight, there was a guy with a machine gun on every corner. That’s what happens in a dictatorship.
That’s what’s happening here, and people better wake up. Read history. Read about Germany in the 1930s and compare the tactics.”
“The military cannot be turned loose unless it’s a national emergency. And they’re going to tell me this is a national emergency?
[Message for President Donald Trump?] You mean the draft-dodging coward? I don’t even call him by name. When it was his time to serve his country, he did what rich white boys did. I wasn’t a rich white boy. I grew up in South Minneapolis. Most of my friends are Vietnam veterans. We had to go. The rich ones didn’t. And now he’s going to tell me what courage is?”
“But people have forgotten the Constitution. After January 6th, we don’t even have it anymore. They all get turned loose, and now they’re in charge. I gave up on this country when this guy got elected. I haven’t watched the news since last November.”
