Health update on former NFL and WCW star Steve “Mongo” McMichael
In 2021, former NFL and WCW star Steve “Mongo” McMichael was diagnosed with ALS aka Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
McMichael was hospitalized on February 15th 2024 with suspected pneumonia. It was later confirmed that McMichael was fighting a Urinary Tract Infection. McMichael’s family stated that he was admitted to the ICU and was put on three antibiotics.
On Saturday, the following statement was provided from his family…
“Steve is currently getting a blood transfusion and has MRSA. We are asking for your prayers to get Steve through this difficult time. Steve, his family and close friends believe in the power of prayer. Thank you.”
Just prior to his hospitalization, McMichael was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame as a member of the Class of 2024.
