Frustrated AEW stars are reportedly more open to joining WWE following the debut of Penta

As seen during the January 13th 2025 edition of WWE RAW, former AEW star Penta defeated Chad Gable in his debut match with the company.

According to Lucha Libre Online, it was confirmed with sources that several AEW wrestlers are frustrated with their roles in the company. It was noted that these stars were previously hesitant about WWE as another option because they feared getting lost in the shuffle. However, the early success of Penta in WWE has reportedly changed how some AEW wrestlers feel about potentially making the jump. It’s also believed that former AEW stars such as Ethan Page and Lexis King doing well in NXT has also played a role in making current AEW talent feel more confident about the possibilities with WWE.

Lucha Libre Online added that at least two wrestlers have confirmed they will explore free agency in 2025, specifically with WWE. Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com wrote that Malakai Black, Miro, Ricky Starks and Rey Fenix “are all on the same list of people who are not likely to be used, one day their deals will expire, and when they do, they’ll be in WWE.”
