Former WWE star Ridge Holland says he received death threats following the injury to Big E
Over the past couple of years, former WWE star Ridge Holland has received criticism for legitimately breaking Big E’s neck. While speaking to TMZ.com, Holland (real name Luke Menzies) commented on the negativity directed towards him…
“But from the moment it happened right up until today, I still get hate for it and stuff. It started off a lot of the time with death threats and things like that, which is unnerving, really. And then, I think that kind of was always a sticking point in me connecting with the fans because Big E was so loved, and they almost took it personally. It was always a sticky point for me that I would never get past. It was always there, and it was always a stigma. So maybe stepping away for a bit is good.
I got this kind of reputation of not being able to wrestle just because my style wasn’t, you know, a thousand high spots in a match. I was more like, I always liked to kind of grind on people and slow things down a little bit. And just because of that style, I think people put the Big E thing and the fact that my style was a little bit different and a little slower together, and I got the decision that I couldn’t wrestle. So, I just think that going away for a little bit will probably do me good.”
