Cody Rhodes says WWE stars have suddenly “gotten so sensitive to what fans say”

While speaking to Mostly Sports With Mark Titus and Brandon Walker, WWE star Cody Rhodes stated the following in regards to feedback that wrestlers receive from social media…

“What I tell people—they aren’t all going to like you, right? You’ve got to get over it.

So when you’re doing that doom vanity search or whatever, no matter what you do—and the mistake wrestlers make is, ‘Oh, I followed him. I can turn him. I can turn him.’ No. They don’t want you. They don’t like you. And that’s okay.

We’ve all of a sudden gotten so sensitive to what fans say. There’s no code—outside of moral and ethical craziness. But you buy a ticket, there’s no code of conduct. You can tell somebody they suck. You can tell somebody they’re fat. It doesn’t matter.

You should hear the stuff that’s being yelled at me in the ring while I’m trying to give a heartfelt speech about Terry Funk or something like that. It’s a fun event for fans to blow off steam.

My grandfather, who was bringing Dusty to the shows, only came to try and fight the heels. He never committed, really—but he was in the corner yelling at Fritz. That’s what he wanted to do.

I know that’s a controversial take—that we should all be minding our P’s and Q’s—but if you’re a good, upstanding human being, I don’t think you need to give yourself 35 rules to attend a wrestling show.”
