Cody Rhodes expected to remain a babyface character in WWE for the foreseeable future
As seen during the 2025 WWE SummerSlam Sunday PLE, Cody Rhodes defeated John Cena in a street fight to regain the WWE title. While speaking at the SummerSlam post-show, Cody issued a response to fans that thought he was going to turn heel at the event…
“I’ll be a little bit inside in this statement. I mean it with the utmost respect. A lot of people have thought about maybe I changed my attitude a little bit. Maybe I’d take a different direction. I’m going to tell you it goes against everything in my body to do that.”
During WrestleVotes Radio, the following was said about Cody potentially turning heel…
“After speaking with sources close to creative, we can report there are currently no plans in the foreseeable future to turn Cody Rhodes heel… We’re told that WWE has little interest in turning their biggest baby face into, quote, a bad guy. The recent wave of online speculation, some of which was intentionally fueled by Cody himself, was a strategic bit of misdirection aimed at the more hardcore audience.”
“One source even joked with us. TC said it would be awkward seeing a smiling Cody Rhodes on Minute Maid packaging throughout 1000s of grocery stores and gas stations here in North America while he’s playing a villain on TV, so Cody Rhodes to remain a big time baby face for the foreseeable future.” (quotes courtesy of WrestlingNews.co)
