While speaking to My Mom’s Basement with Robbie Fox, CM Punk was asked to name the best horror movie villain. Here was Punk’s response…
“Horror villain? I mean, are we—like, is Michael Myers a villain? [100%. Do you not think he’s a villain? You think he’s a good guy?] Listen, man, Freddy Krueger molested children and people are stoked on him. I guess that makes him a Republican.
It’s got to be Michael Myers. Nobody did it better than John Carpenter. He spawned the entire genre.
There is no Friday the 13th without John Carpenter. There’s possibly no Freddy Krueger. It’s a little bit different, but the slasher movie didn’t really exist, and he made it an entire genre. Everybody needs to write checks to John Carpenter.”
