Breaking news: CM Punk makes his AEW debut at Rampage in Chicago
After weeks of speculation, CM Punk officially debuted with AEW at the August 20th edition of AEW Rampage in Chicago, IL. Punk made his entrance at the start of the show and then cut a promo.
Punk talked about needing to feel the energy from the fans again and didn’t know what he was going to say. Punk said that he heard the chants for seven years and wasn’t going to have time to say everything he wanted. However, he would have Wednesdays, Fridays, and PPV events moving forward. Punk sat down and talked about his career…
“I was never going to get healthy staying in the place that got me sick in the first place.”
“August 13th, 2005, I left professional wrestling. August 20th, 2021, I’m back.”
Punk said he came back for the young talent and because he had a few grudges left to settle. Punk ended the promo by challenging Darby Allin to a match at AEW All Out on September 5th in Chicago.
