Belief that Adam Copeland (Edge) working for AEW could be a “real possibility” once WWE contract expires
As seen during the August 18th 2023 edition of WWE Smackdown, Edge defeated Sheamus in a competitive match. Edge’s WWE contract expires at the end of September.
In regards to Edge’s future in wrestling, Steve Carrier of RingsideNews.com noted that he “has not inked a new deal with WWE and there is a strong internal belief within the company that he is going to AEW.” “Edge” is trademarked by WWE so he would have to use his real name Adam Copeland.
Fightful Select stated the following about the matter…
“There are many in AEW that think that Copeland coming in could be a real possibility. Those close to him claimed earlier this year that the idea of him working in AEW isn’t as ‘out there’ as you’d think.”
There has been speculation about Edge potentially reuniting with Christian Cage. In addition to Christian, Edge is close with Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler. Edge possibly working for AEW was reportedly discussed by “a lot of people” in the company even before Edge claimed the match with Sheamus would be the final one of his contract.
Edge is at a crossroads in his career. Right now, he has not inked a new deal with WWE and there is a strong internal belief within the company that he is going to #AEW.
