Becky Lynch says going from WrestleMania 35 to a storyline with Lacey Evans was “terrible”
While speaking to Bert Kreischer, WWE star Becky Lynch talked about her on-screen relationship with Seth Rollins after the two started dating in 2019…
“We were kind of exposed pretty quick because as soon as it was out that we were together, we were put on TV as a couple, which was pretty awful. It was not good because I was, you know, I was at the height of my career. I was The Man, and he was the heavyweight champion. We were two characters that were loved by the audience.”
“Coming out of that [WrestleMania 35], I start working with Lacey Evans right out of the gate. God bless her, but she wasn’t, you know, for me to go from the main event of WrestleMania to somebody who hadn’t done anything was terrible.”
“And so then they put us [her and Rollins] together. And then we didn’t know our own dynamic as a couple, and now we’re on TV, and my wrestling character is so different from how I am in real life and especially as a girlfriend. Oh my god, you know? And so trying to figure that out on TV, and then they kept talking about, ‘Oh, Becky and Seth in a real-life relationship,’ every two minutes. So it was jammed down everybody’s throats. Everybody hated it. It was awkward as sh*t.”
Rollins and Becky went on to defeat Baron Corbin and Lacey at the 2019 Extreme Rules event.
