Backstage news regarding WWE’s round of roster cuts that included Braun Strowman
As previously noted, WWE announced the releases of several wrestlers including Braun Strowman and Aleister Black.
Here are some additional news items about the releases…
* The belief is that Strowman’s release from WWE likely had to do with his hefty contract. Fightful Select noted the following about Strowman’s deal with the company…
“His contract came down to the wire in the summer of 2019, and he was signed well into 2023, for what WWE sources claim was over $1 million per year.”
* Fightful also wrote that Ruby Riott’s release “seemed to shake” members of the roster the most as she was popular in the locker room.
* In regards to Santana Garrett’s release, Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com is reporting that there were plans for her to debut on Friday Night Smackdown. Garrett had been waiting to make her debut on the main roster from NXT but WWE decided to cut her instead.
Garrett commented on her departure…
