Backstage news regarding Will Ospreay performing at AEW Forbidden Door despite needing neck surgery

This week, Will Ospreay confirmed that he will be having neck surgery after AEW Forbidden Door 2025. According to Fightful.com, Ospreay told people in the company that working Forbidden Door was important to him. Opsreay is reportedly cleared to wrestle at the event despite stating the opposite on Dynamite.

Prior to All In: Texas, Ospreay knew he was going to need some time off and Fightful noted that tentative plans had to be drastically changed. It’s believed that Ospreay’s speech on the episode of Dynamite that aired after All In even came together at the last minute and he initially wasn’t going to cut a promo revealing his injury.

Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com wrote the following about Ospreay…

“Others noted that they knew he had serious neck issues but avoided getting it looked at. He himself said that he hid his problems from the doctors until recently.”

While speaking to SI.com, Ospreay stated the following…

“I am compromised. I’ve got a few herniated discs pushing against my spinal cord, which is affecting a couple of my nerves. But, I can do stuff and I can perform one last time before I need to go get it all corrected.”

“I got told after All In that I was gonna need to rest and take some time off to see how this is gonna go, and then the MRI’s came back and I got told this is worse than what we thought it was gonna be, but that it’s manageable. It’s absolutely fine. The surgeon even told me that it’s not going to get any worse. It just it needs to be corrected.”
