Backstage news regarding the unconfirmed matches for WWE Summerslam 2024

WWE has two matches confirmed for the 2024 WWE Summerslam PLE so far including Damian Priest vs. Gunther for the world title and Bayley vs. Nia Jax for the WWE women’s title.

There are several matches that have not been confirmed but are expected to take place at Summerslam. Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com was told that Liv Morgan vs. Rhea Ripley for the women’s world title is “strongly expected” to be on the card.

Even though Seth Rollins has been involved in the CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre storyline, a triple threat is not in the current plans but Meltzer noted that Rollins could still have involvement in the match. As of last word, WWE is “very hopeful” that Punk will be cleared for the match.

According to Meltzer, Sami Zayn vs. Bron Breakker in a rematch for the Intercontinental title was listed for Summerslam earlier in the week. Ilja Dragunov could potentially be added to the match.

It’s believed that Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn will defend the tag team titles against Shayna Baszler & Zoey Stark (with Sonya Deville) and/or Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill and/or Damage CTRL. Meltzer wrote that “there was talk of a women’s tag title match to be held that weekend, so it could be PPV or at the Smackdown or Raw TV that weekend.”

Cody Rhodes vs. Solo Sikoa for the WWE title and Logan Paul vs. LA Knight for the United States title are also expected for Summerslam.
