Backstage news regarding the segment with CM Punk, Drew McIntyre, and Seth Rollins on WWE RAW

As seen during the March 25th 2024 edition of WWE RAW in Chicago, IL, CM Punk had a verbal confrontation with world heavyweight champion Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre. Punk confirmed that he will be doing guest commentary for Rollins vs. McIntyre at Wrestlemania 40.

It appears that WWE, which has been known for writing promos word-for-word in the past, loosened up when it came to the scripting of the segment. Fightful Select noted that “the claim internally is that there was a general outline, and are told that the talent knew they were all going to just go for it and see what happens.” The segment was reportedly produced by Adam Pearce.

It’s believed that WWE’s production team did not anticipate Punk’s line where he used profanity. However, Fightful also stated that “we haven’t heard of any issues backstage after the promos as it relates to heat or anything of that sort, and things have continued to appear well with Punk in WWE.”
