AEW star Ricochet: “WWE kills legacies and love of the sport – It’s what they do best”
During an interview with The Mark Hoke Show, AEW star Ricochet claimed that his five years on the WWE main roster “tarnished” his wrestling legacy. In several posts via Twitter/X, Ricochet responded to fan comments…
“User @chairshotsports: In #WWE, @KingRicochet became: NXT North American Champion, Intercontinental Champion, U.S. Champion. Met his current wife there and a platform to make a name in the states but YET, WWE “tarnished his legacy” though in AEW, he’s still a mid-carder with a charity title.”
Ricochet: “I met my wife BEFORE she was in WWE. And all those title are pointless and mean NOTHING anymore.”
User @chairshotsports: “I take back the wife comment then, my apologizes. To say they mean nothing is wild. Hope AEW gives you everything you ever wanted.”
Ricochet: “They don’t. They haven’t for a while. Even when I was IC and US champ. They meant nothing.”
User @CumsWitaPrice: “Just a little insane that there’s no gratefulness or appreciation for his time there. I agree they didn’t use him to his fullest potential and I was waiting for them to do more with Rico. But they did give him a platform and paid him. So I’m shocked he hated it that much.”
Ricochet: “They took my love of pro wrestling away. I’ll never forget how I felt walking into work every week. And that platform was only to make other look good at my expense. And I told them, I’d rather quit and go back to the indies and make whatever I’d make there than to come back next week. And because of that THEN they made me IC and didn’t grant me my release.”
User @MeelzTV: “I think as an artist, there are seasons where the spotlight fades, but the work still matters. It even can inform some of your best work that’s to come. I hate that you feel this way, especially considering I thought you did great work even despite some of the circumstances.”
Ricochet: “I do feel this way. And MANY others do as well. That company kills the love and you end up being a shell of who you were and going through the motions. Same thing happens to [Finn] Balor, Shinsuke [Nakamura], Apollo [Crews] and many others. WWE kills legacies and love of the sport. Its what they do best.”
