AEW news items regarding Kenny Omega’s All In status, Jon Moxley’s absence, and Buddy Matthews’ contract
Here are a few AEW news items for July 26th 2024 via the Wrestling Observer Newsletter and Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com…
* It’s believed that AEW initially wanted to do Kazuchika Okada vs. Kenny Omega for the Continental title at All In. Omega underwent hernia surgery on May 16th but since the recovery time is around four months, he currently isn’t expected to be cleared in time for the event. Meltzer noted that Omega’s health situation was “far worse than most who have hernia surgery.”
* Jon Moxley was given time off and that’s why he hasn’t appeared on AEW television since Forbidden Door. There’s no word regarding when he will be returning.
* The belief is that Buddy Matthews signed a new contract earlier this year. Meltzer stated that Matthews had attempted to give notice at one point but then AEW President Tony Khan offered him a new “very lucrative deal” and he agreed to it.
