AEW Dynamite reportedly drawing over a million weekly viewers with TBS and MAX numbers combined

According to B. J. Bethel of SEScoops.com, it’s believed that AEW Dynamite has been drawing an average of around 500,000 weekly viewers (roughly 80% of live cable viewership) since its launch on the MAX streaming platform. When factoring in TBS numbers, the total average per episode rises to an estimated 1 to 1.2 million viewers since the show joined MAX.

Bethel noted the following…

“According to sources with knowledge of the numbers, the show is averaging around 60 million minutes watched per show with a deviation of plus/minus 10 to 20 percent depending on the episode and competition. The minutes watched averages to 500,000 viewers per episode Live-Plus-1. Meaning it takes into account viewers who watched live on the app and for 24 hours afterward.”

Furthermore, Bethel was told that AEW has consistently surpassed the viewership of several prominent hockey games on the app. In comparison, NBA games on MAX typically attract an average of 1.7 to 2 million viewers, varying based on matchups and competing events.

In a post on F4WOnline.com’s message board, Dave Meltzer wrote the following in regards to the report…

“Of course they are beating the NHL. They historically double the NHL on TV although it’s been a little less than double most weeks now.

I’m asking around. Given VP’s at MAX and WBD don’t have access to numbers, wouldn’t jump to conclusions. MAX is far less popular than Netflix and Raw in the U.S. with no TV on Netflix does barely double that (and if this is accurate they are neck and neck in theory with Raw if you combine streaming and TV). So to me there’s cause for skepticism. If real, the first week of March, Dynamite would be 1.1 million and Raw 984,000 and I don’t accept that as likely. Since the [John] Cena turn it would be Raw still ahead, but not by much.”
